Don’t Leave Your Honeymoon Planning Until The Last Minute

Honeymoons are more often than not an afterthought to wedding planning, when, in terms of memories, they are just as significant as your day in church.

Initially decide what your objectives are for the time you’ll be away and what you can and can’t live without. What parts of the world interest you? Do you want to relax or be active? What are your priorities? Cost, adventure, sightseeing, weather, etc.

Visits to exclusive islands or resorts are traditionally popular, and for good reason. They allow you to spend quality, quiet time with each other whilst unwinding from the busy timetable of the previous few months and taking in stunning surroundings.

Another option is to take a cruise; they give you an equally peaceful, relaxing time whilst also making it possible to visit a host of different locations. If you would prefer a more active honeymoon, you could try an adventure travel trip or a mountain resort.

As for honeymoon locations, these are some of the most popular: Australia, Bahamas, Bali, Canada, Costa Rica, Egypt, France, Hawaii, Maldives, Seychelles, Spain.

Whichever type of location and honeymoon you decide on, try to book it at least six months in advance to ensure that you’ll have the pick of the rooms, and can start planning for your time away. Ask if there is a special honeymoon package available; extras such as the honeymoon suite, iced champagne and bouquets of flowers can make it even more memorable.

Research and book restaurant seats, tickets, tours, and various other activities that require advance reservations, particularly so should you be traveling in the summer months (bear in mind that different locations will have different peak seasons). Don’t go overboard with planning though and make sure there is plenty of free time, in the first few days especially, in which simply enjoying the company of one another should be your main aim.

Do what you can to make your honeymoon stand out from any other vacation. Along with your standard vacation items, try packing some fun extras, like romantic music, candles, bubble bath, massage lotion and lingerie. Also, be sure to take a camera and video camera with you, so you can look back on your special time together forever.
