These divorce records can be obtained through the Vital Statistics Unit under the Report of Divorce Index. If you don’t have much time to visit their office, you can also do it online by using their website that’s available for anyone’s use without any cost at all as long as proper procedures are followed.
It was only in 1968 that the State of Texas Divorce Records were filed in the said state office. Thus, divorces that were recorded before such time will only be available at the office of the District Clerk at the county in which the divorce happened. Aside from that, only a letter of verification will be given to you once the record was made prior to such year. The said letter will indicate if the divorce was granted in Texas and it requires a non-refundable fee.
