The Missing Link between Fairy Tales and Bridal Shower Favors

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Do you remember as a small child, watching The Little Mermaid or even Beauty and the Beast? As enchanting as these childhood movies were and still are, they had some familiarities. Everyone knows that the Little Mermaid finds love, and of all places it is not under the sea, just like the main character in Beauty and the Beast.

Both of the main characters in these movies meet their very own personal prince charming. Now you know how the plots play out, they fall into forbidden love of sorts, and get married. Now since there are weddings in these two films, how come we never see any bridal shower favors or wedding shower favors? Were these two strikingly and breathtakingly beautiful princesses deprived of a bridal shower? It seems as though old Walt Disney over looked a couple of things while putting these films together.

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Remember your college days? The good times which you shared with your friends during those long lost yester-years still replay frequently through your head. Remember all of your friends? How they aspired more then anything to have the picture perfect family and a career to die for after graduation. Those were the days weren’t they?

How many friends of yours actually planned out their weddings while in school? Surely there was talk amongst the female student body of what flowers they would want, or even what type of bridal shower and bridal shower favors they would want. After all college days meant that you had little to worry about except your next exam, so surely there was spare time for you and your friends to talk amongst yourselves and even discuss your futures. It is common knowledge that a woman’s favorite flower is often incorporated in some way into her wedding shower favors, so sometimes it pays to listen and pay attention to your classmates daydreams.

Choosing Wedding Centerpieces

Sunday, March 7th, 2010

When two people decide to get married, there are many decisions to make. Choosing a design for the wedding centerpieces is just the beginning. A good place to start is to consider how elegant or informal and how bold or simple you want your reception. The centerpieces will set the stage for the rest of the dcor, so think of it as the focal point of the room. You can hire professionals for this if you have the money, or you can do the job yourself.

A centerpiece is the focal point of any table and can set the stage for decorating the rest of the room. You can hire professionals for this if you have a sufficient budget, or you can do the job yourself to save a few dollars. Whichever direction you turn, there will be plenty of decisions to make.

You will first need to plan what you want. When brainstorming wedding centerpiece ideas, some brides consider a theme, possibly something that has special meaning to them and their guy, such as where or when they met. The particular time of year of the wedding can inspire seasonal themes, such as lush flowers for spring or an icy wonderland for winter. Themes can be general, such as tropical or western, or focused on specific colors (perhaps the bride’s favorite) such as pink or mint green.

The Wedding of Daddy’s Little Girl

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

There are only two ways a father will take his little girl growing up and getting married, bad and worse. If you think it is easy for daddy to watch his baby girl leave the nest with a man in her life, think again. He might not say so, but it hurts on a level that only fathers can understand. There is a bond, and I am not talking about a British secret agent, that forms between them like no other in the family dynamic and it just can’t be put into words. When daughter is born into this world, so small and innocent, it awakens a fiercely protective instinct in a dad that goes unrivaled in the annals of human history. Dad would fight an entire pride of lions just for looking at his baby girl.

Now everyone is talking about her wedding. How does dad handle this sudden emergence of a time clock that is ticking away the days until his little girls officially becomes a woman and will no longer depend on him? He swallows his pride and his fatherly instinct and gives her the best wedding he can’t afford, that’s how. He will get the best of everything from the cake to the wedding favors. We are not talking about any old cake and gifts. Dad will buy the most expensive cake in the catalog and the most unique wedding favors and spare no expense on any part of the wedding.

Wedding Rings - Cubic Zirconia’s For Your Engagement

Friday, February 26th, 2010

Having a perfect engagement band can be crucial. Engagement rings will always be the very first present to a woman whenever a gentleman proposes to her. Seeing as the summer is the hottest time for weddings to occur, wedding jewelry sales shoot through the roof around mid year. However, did you know that engagement rings are also popular types of gifts during the Christmas season?

The ritual of giving a woman a ring when a man proposes dates back to the time of the Roman Empire. The rings used during that time were engagement rings made of iron, much cheaper and simpler than the ones we’re used to seeing today.

Instead of adding precious stones to the rings of that time, it was popular to instead scratch in the initials of the wearer on the inner part of the ring.

Today we have exquisite diamonds that dwarf the iron bands of the past in terms of beauty. And of late, cubic zirconia’s have been gaining in popularity as a cheaper alternative to diamonds.

While having a diamond ring would be ideal, it cost so much that many young couples just cannot afford to buy such as luxury. Instead they purchase plan silver or gold wedding bands, which don’t quite have the same impact that the diamond bands do.

100 Gifts and 1 Bride’s Help

Friday, February 19th, 2010

I suppose we all have preconceived ideas and emotions when it comes to planning a wedding, especially when it’s yours. It’s a whole different world from having a boyfriend even if you’ve been seeing each other for years, even if you’ve been living together. The dynamics change and there are bound to be feelings of anticipation, some anxiety, and of course the desire for everything to be “perfect.”

During all the pre-wedding planning and jitters, you may feel a little nervous about letting your friends know what you would like in the way of gifts. It’s easier for and with family. They are more inclined to come right out and ask you, or know you well enough to get you something you’ll like and enjoying using and/or just having around. Most people like to give gifts: they have fun trying to figure out what would be “right.” Then there are some who get frustrated trying to decide what to get and this is where you can be helpful. You can do the traditional thing and register at a department store or specialty store that carries the china, the silverware, the place settings, linens and so on that you like and will use. That way you kind of narrow the “guessing” of gifts down some, and your guests won’t have to be concerned about whether or not you are going to like their gifts.
